What are we doing?

In 2021, Ayom Peduli Yogyakarta began visits to elderly individuals in our community, engaging in meaningful conversations to understand their daily lives and unique needs. Initially, we were strangers, but over time, these interactions blossomed into bonds of trust and care. We now proudly call them as our clients and family, committed to assessing their situations and providing essential support to fulfill their basic needs.

Monthly Support Program

At Ayom Peduli Yogyakarta, our commitment to the well-being of our clients extends far beyond initial visits. Each month, we deliver essential supplies and provide continuous care based on thorough assessments of their individual needs. Our monthly support includes crucial items such as groceries and medical supplies, ensuring that the basic needs of our elderly clients are consistently met.

Meet our clients, Harto & Satinem: A Story of Care and Continuity

Harto and Satinem, a devoted elderly couple, live with their extended family, including their children and grandchildren. Despite the love and support of their family, financial constraints pose significant challenges. With two grandchildren starting school soon and a household income limited by low-paying jobs, the family struggles to make ends meet. Amid these hardships, caring for Harto and Satinem, who both face mobility issues and require daily assistance, has been particularly demanding.

Recognizing their situation, we stepped in to provide targeted support. Since August 2023, Ayom Peduli Yogyakarta has been supplying Harto and Satinem with monthly deliveries of groceries and essential medical supplies, including adult diapers. This support has been vital, especially for Harto, who required constant care due to his inability to walk.

Harto passed away in April 2024. Despite this loss, our commitment to the family remains steadfast. We continue to support Satinem, ensuring she receives the care and resources she needs during this difficult time.

Our monthly support program embodies our mission to provide sustainable assistance, bringing dignity and comfort to those in need. Through our dedicated efforts, we strive to create a nurturing community where our clients, whom we consider family, can live with the care and respect they deserve.

Special Support Program

At Ayom Peduli Yogyakarta, we believe in addressing the diverse and individual needs of our clients with personalized care. Our special support initiatives go beyond monthly provisions, focusing on specific requirements that enhance the quality of life for our elderly clients. Whether it is providing a comfortable mattress, improving living conditions, or constructing essential facilities like toilets. Our goal is to create a safer and more comfortable environment for those we serve.

Transforming Lives: The Story of Sardi Wiyono

Meet Sardi Wiyono, a resilient man living alone in a rural area of Yogyakarta. His life has been marked by a series of challenges, but his spirit remains strong.

He was living in a small, sparsely furnished house. The most striking aspect of his living conditions was the absence of basic amenities. Sardi had no proper bed, relying instead on a few thin mats laid on the floor for rest. This lack of comfort contributed to his health issues, exacerbating his asthma and making it difficult for him to sleep soundly.

The walls of his home, made from woven bamboo, did little to protect him from the elements. There was no proper toilet, forcing Sardi to relieve himself in the garden, which was not only inconvenient but also undignified, especially for someone of his age.

Determined to make a difference in Sardi’s life, we began our mission to improve his living conditions and health.

First, we addressed his medical needs. Sardi’s asthma had been a constant struggle, making it hard for him to breathe and affecting his overall well-being. We provided him with the necessary medication to manage his asthma, ensuring that he could breathe easier and improve his quality of life.

Next, we turned our attention to his living conditions. One of the most immediate needs was a proper place for him to rest. We provided Sardi with a comfortable mattress and repaired his bed frame, allowing him to sleep soundly and reduce the strain on his health.

Sanitation was another critical issue. Living without proper sanitary facilities, Sardi faced daily indignities. We installed essential home amenities, which restored his dignity and significantly improved his daily life.

In addition to these improvements, we provided new clothes and a thorough cleaning service for his home. This ensured a healthier and more comfortable living environment, which is crucial for someone in Sardi’s condition. Through these efforts, Sardi's quality of life has significantly improved.

Event

We would like to invite young people and the local community to participate in organizing events that are beneficial for the elderly. Here is "Sehat Sesarengan" event that has a meaning "Being Healthy Together".

In November 2023, we had an event of doing a gymnastic together with 100 elderly people in Karanggayam Village, Bantul Regency, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.
